The gift of the Unseen

We are expecting another winter storm in Fort Wayne. Ice and snow in significant amounts.
Yet, Spring is just around the corner. For me, Spring signifies the new life of the next part of my own creative process. It is an exciting time full of rebirth and “springing” into the unknown.

I will celebrate March 1rst (for me the first day of Spring) by creating the ninth piece of Soul/Deepbody music for a wonderful, creative photographer in California. I have traveled to Central America and Mexico….walked in caves, and in rain forests with this person who captures the essence of sacred sites with her camera. She has graced me with her presence for years, and now I get to compose and record her Soul/Deepbody music.

Tom Tempel, owner of Tempel Recording, records, masters, mixes, and assists in so many ways with the co-creation of Soul/Deepbody music. His recording studio is a portal opening into the unseen world. I step into his studio and the portal opens with my playing of the first notes. The music pours out through my being. My portal, the Music Universe, the portal that is the soul of the person for whom I am creating music, and the portal of the recording studio and Tom’s soul…..all are wide open allowing this pouring forward from the unseen into the seen and heard world.

The Soul/Deepbody music is transforming me and my understanding of the unseen world.
I have such a deep appreciation for who we REALLY are as souls. The Soul/Deepbody music is reflecting human beings….souls in bodies…who are awesome in nature….full of life and light and color and sound and beauty. I have a new understanding of how important the purpose of each of us because we are such beautiful beings with a creative purpose that matters. Without my living my purpose, something is lost in the weaving of the unseen and seen worlds.

The Soul/Deepbody music is teaching me about my own body and how strong and healthy it is. It can support the creation of music through five, six, seven hours of recording time. It loves to have music pouring through it…..lifegiving to my body.

To all of you who have graced me with the gift of creating your Soul/Deepbody music….Mary, Elizabeth, Conrad, Greg, Vicki, David, Ann, Jacque..and to those who will be created….my profound thanks for this gift!

Happy Spring!!

Beauty

I have outgrown my old office and moved into a space about twice as large. This new space has ceiling to floor windows which look out on my backyard. The light pours into my office and the portals are open…bringing creative life to this new space. I am surrounded by the original artwork created by Ilene Satala and Ann Beeching for my albums (three foot by four foot pieces of art on my walls). My CDs are unpacked and readily available for shipping. All of my instruments…keyboard, drums, flutes are around me for ease of playing at any time. They are also very beautiful.

We had a blizzard yesterday…the second blizzard of my adult lifetime…and watching that blizzard with the snow being whipped about by the wind was a profound experience of beauty. White snow in motion and brilliant red cardinals flying about contrasted against the pure white snow. What an inspiring experience and place in which to create. Today the skies are clear blue with mounds of rounded white on the ground….maybe three-four feet high…and the dark branches of trees etched against the sky. The sunshine is bright and reflected back from the snow. All of the birds are gathered as they appreciate our offering of food. Children are beginning to come out….bundled up against the cold…to laugh and play and build snow forts and throw snow balls.

It is very cold outside….sub-zero temperatures and even colder wind chills. I love this weather because I have the choice of being in the cold for a while, and then coming into the warmth. I am reminded that the blizzard was a force outside of my control. It brought beauty…but it also killed. I am warm and cared for. Others are freezing and starving.

This always brings me back to my own purpose for this lifetime. My part of this vast weaving is to contribute to the beauty of our world through my music and my presence.
I will never know how this directly helps bring peace to a dark world…or food and shelter to the hungry and freezing…but it is what I can do. It is my life purpose and what I MUST do as long as I am alive to do so.
