As I muse today, my candles are burning brightly and I am loving the warmth of my studio. Outside we are experiencing the traditional January Thaw. The sun is shining and it may get up to 45 degrees today. Mother Earth knows that we need a bit of warmth about this time of year. She is wise indeed!

Today is the day that I send the Emergence album to DiscMakers for duplication. How exciting is that! Wisdom has held it in her arms….waiting for the Spring of 2008.

The Emergence album is completely packaged for mailing. What is in this package? I thought you might enjoy a peek into the world of CD manifestation.

The creation of the music is a creative process of months. The creation of the artwork for the cover and of the graphic design is also a creative process of months. The creation of the mailing package for Discmakers is the process of bringing everything together so that an album can be duplicated and out into the world. It takes about a year for the wisdom process to bring all of this together to provide the musical album which can be nationally and internationally distributed.

I will send the Emergence package out today to Discmakers. Then I will begin the immediate journey of bringing Emergence into the world. The internet is my friend and portal to the world in this process. There are millions of unknown people who want the Emergence album. My journey is to find them and let them find me.

My website is the portal…..my soul is the wisdom…..my deepbody is the means through which wisdom acts in the world.

Adding to the joy of this day…Soul/Deepbody music of a friend is playing on my computer and I am deeply appreciating the beauty and energy of her music. I will be creating the Soul/Deepbody music update for 2008 for this friend tomorrow. Joy!

January is flying by! As is most of the country, we are in intense cold today but the sunshine is equally intense. The sunshine reflects off of the snow and backdrops the artistry of black tree branches. I am always amazed at the purposefulness of the shapes of tree branches. Each type of tree has its own tree shape….formed in its purpose….each one extraordinarily beautiful.

My Indiana Sales Tax is due at the end of this month, so most of my time (when not painting my studio complex) has been focused on looking at all of last year’s sales…not only to make sure my sales tax is paid on time, but also to let the finances of 2007 teach me about this year 2008. Finances are a great and joyful teacher!

My new studio colors are just fabulous. As I began to paint the walls the earth greens and the trim in the soft browns I felt supported and calm. However, when I first began to paint the reds and oranges…..alarm!….against the former white of my studio walls the reds and oranges were crazy. Yikes! What had I done! My past experience with these kinds of colors kept me painting and when the walls were complete with no more white showing…..oh my!….the colors are absolutely incredible and super supportive to my journey through this next year. I love walking into my studio area now.

Indiana State taxes are still calling me…..so onward to more financial exploration and…with the Dance of Light music playing…..a playful, joyful day.

It’s been over two weeks since the writing muse has struck. Yikes! I was awakened at 4:30 this morning to write. So, my cup of coffee is at my side… a necessary part of early morning writing…..and here we go.

This week is all about repainting my studio space and letting go of all old furniture in my studio to bring in the new. Ann came over and her magical expert eye helped me choose my colors for this newness. We have a color called “Burning Bush” on the wall which displays Ann’s 30 x 40″ artwork (Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth, and Emergence album covers), a color that is the orange/brown of the hair of the goddess Bridget in Ilene’s artwork (The Journey of Joy) on two other walls which display three of Ilene’s 30 x 40″ paintings, and the wall which is mostly window is painted in a earth green tone. The trim is a beautiful soft color which has greens and browns in its gentle, warm accent.

This entire year I will be supported by this warmth of color….supported as I write, play music, take care of business kinds of things, and teach. How cool is that! As for the furniture….only beautiful things are allowed in this studio.

Tasks like painting are zen-like for me. They bring me into a space of quiet. I am playing the music of Dance of Light over and over as I paint. The lightness, joy, humor, energy of this new music celebrating the winter solstice (check out Earth Essence link on this website for free download) is going to radiate from the walls of this studio all year.

Already from December of 2007 through today, I have recorded six Soul/Deepbody update albums for people. This music is emerging as “in the world” music for those who already have Soul/Deepbody music. Thanks to the trip to Guatemala/Honduras in late September of 07, the music comes more quickly and is unique to this space and time for an individual. One of my fears at the beginning of my journey with Soul/Deepbody music was that it would all begin to sound the same. Well…..as it turns out, SOUL does not work that way! The source of creativity is limitless and infinitely varied. My imprint is on all of my music just as every artist, every teacher, every writer has their own style.
But I have learned from this constant outpouring of music that each person is so unique in their journey that their music also is unique. Over the last year people have encouraged me to create CDs that include various compositions from different individual’s Soul/Deepbody music. I experimented with this idea by burning some playlists of compilations of different individuals music combined into a CD to see how the energy felt. The answer is NO. Each person’s Soul/Deepbody music has a unique vibration that belongs to their album only. Conrad has said that he cannot use most of his own Soul/Deepbody music in groups because it is so specific to his own journey. So much for my own limited perceptions and fears at the beginning of the year 2007 concerning the Soul/Deepbody music!

The Earth Essence music is just about complete. I will be adding the jaguar at the end of January and then all of you who take advantage of the free download will have an Earth Essence album which has nine different pieces….almost an hour of music celebrating the beautiful, wonderful, nurturing energy of Mother Earth. Don’t forget to download Dance of Light which was put up on the website on January 15.

Lightness….newness….beginner’s mind….the gentle touch of the embrace of the Earth….play….creativity…..fun…..intuitive spark….

Well friends…..June marks two years of self-employment as a musician. 2007 also closed a 20 year cycle for Mayan Dream Productions, Int’l. A new and exciting 20 year cycle began in 2008.

I have written many Musings (150+) over the last years. Some were published as hard copy newsletters, and some were published as blogs in wordpress on this website.

To celebrate the new 20 year cycle that began in 2008 and is now going strong, I am bringing Musings to a new level. I am discontinuing writing new posts on wordpress and instead writing new posts on blogspot.com. Wordpress will be your link to the Musings archive….the place to go when you want to read my past writings.

Why have I switched to blogspot.com? This new site is easy for me to post photos anytime I want, to have a slideshow and other great features, and it is dynamic and colorful. Since 2008 is all about life and vitality and the spirit of the Heart of Everything and the soul of the Earth, blogspot works better for me now.

December 21 was my birthday. I have always loved the fact that my birthday is on the winter solstice. Much of my journey has been about bringing light into darkness….so how appropriate this birth date. I was five weeks premature, with my birth being precipitated by a fall by my mother, so my Soul really wanted me to be born on the solstice. WOW!

I expected a large rush of energy on my 60th birthday. That really didn’t happen. However, this 61st birthday was accompanied by lots of energy moving into my body, hot and cold and the various physical manifestations of major change. Totally unexpected!!!

The unexpected…..all of December things that I was given to do at the request of my Soul often had totally unexpected results. My mind thought I was doing things for reasons it understood. Actually, I was doing things for reasons that were totally unknown to my mind. Yikes! Quite an adventure this month of December.

Today Walter and I are leaving for a winter resort for a few days. We are traveling by car as the weather gets bad. We expect to have a fabulous time.
What kind of unexpected beautiful things will happen?? We’ll see.

A BEAUTIFUL GRACE. This is a Monday morning musing on grace in the midst of transformation.

Cancer is not beautiful…but those who carry this transformative illness with grace and courage…they are beautiful and filled with grace.

Those who help them are beautiful and filled with grace.

A house fire that destroys just before Christmas is not beautiful….but its power to bring a new life into a home is beautiful….and the grace and courage of the homeowners who find the inner strength to accept the new…this is beautiful.

Those who live their life purpose in the midst of not knowing what is happening or why….they are beautiful and their journey is graced in love.

The trees outside my studio are covered in ice and everything has this particular beauty. However, what about those who are REALLY cold because they can’t afford heat, or are homeless…..the ice and the cold are not beautiful to them in the same way. But they are beautiful in their journey and they are graced. Those who help them are beautiful and graced.

I am nearing the end of this year’s cycle and already feeling the weaving of next year. Outside it is absolutely gorgeous. We had about four inches of snow overnight and it is still snowing. Everything is white and soft and clean and still. Later we are supposed to have winds but they are not blowing yet.

Today I am recording more Earth Essence music and one piece will be about this snow.

Earth knows change and regeneration. She gave us the beauty of summer greens and vibrant colors in flowers, sky, animals….then she began the movement of Autumn with brilliant reds, oranges, yellows….all turning to the basic branches of trees and the falling of leaves. Flowers and animals leave us or hibernate..with of course the exception of cardinals, blue jays and other birds of winter. For a few weeks we experienced the subtle browns and grays with rains and cooling temperatures…the occasional thunderstorm, sleet, maybe even tornados….then…..awesome snowfall and the gift of beauty in a new form.

The Maya understood this constant change. The calendar that I chant every day in my morning meditation extends through thousands of years with no day the same as any other day. Today is “chalahum baktun, bolonlahun katun, chanlahun tun, holahun winal, holahun k’in, ho, men, ux mak bolon.” and I am part of this day’s energy. Why should I expect old habits, old perceptions, old ways of doing things to work in such a new day?

Several weeks ago I mentioned that I was considering changing the name of my business. The final decision….same name….different energy!

This last weekend was very cool. My 17 month old grandchild visited and reminded me again of wonder, and curiosity, and laughter, and unending vitality. My nine year old granddaughter visited also and brought love and a blooming maturity and new ways of looking at things and lots of energy. Of course these grandchildren drew my adult children back to our home…and for a while the house was bustling with six additional people. I love it…love it….love it!

So….next year….a year of much change and wonder and excitement and fun and creativity. Stay tuned!!

As usual I’m writing in the early morning. It’s raining and sleeting outside…temperature around 35 degrees. Inside my office studio it is warm and I’m surrounded by all of the original artwork that was created for my CD covers, and lots of green plants that came inside for the winter. I have my hot cup of coffee, my candle is lit, and the Earth Essence music is playing. Thank you to the wonderful force of life that has put me here!

I did not expect to compose this music. I expected the EMERGENCE album to be out. However, the Mystical Rose music came and demanded its existence….so here it is…in physical form! I have noticed that a couple of our artists have created artwork with the “From the Heart of Everything” title also. This profound heart energy must be very present in our lives right now.

What story does the Mystical Rose: From the Heart of Everything
music tell? I have just opened up the Mystical Rose music on i-tunes and let’s hear its story.

The first track is called Love Unfolding. The music begins with cascading chimes and the unfolding petals of the pink rose painted with warm slow strings….love….warmth….the heart of everything that lives. The love that supports you and me in everything that we do.

Track two is Held in Joy. I had so much fun playing the jingle bells that introduce and end this piece. The piano, flute, strings….laugh with each other….how can life which is lived in the unconditional love of wisdom…how can that life be anything but joyful. The universe itself spins in joy.

Outside the sky is grey and everything is very wet and cold. Yet it is soft outside and quiet. One bush still has its leaves and they are bright red. A dog just ran through our yard….off on an adventure. All of nature today is Joy in one of its many forms.

Track three: Laughter. Laughter is the great transformer. It floods our body, mind, emotions, spirit with wonderful energy that heals, makes us feel really good, connects us with LOVE. Laughter erupts from the joy of The heart of Everything. You will hear drums, a marvelous, fun sound called “chuggin’ along”, piano, shakers, and claves.

Track four: From the Heart of Everything. While I was in Copan I recorded the birds along the path from the Cosmic Bench in Les Sepultures. These birds are the background for Maria’s song. Maria is the sacred feminine who holds each of us in our potential for our life on Earth. Her song is love manifesting. The music is light, the melody is warm. She sings her melody through harp, flute, strings, and her life pulses in the drum beat. Her melody….her song…her life pulse are her gift to us.

Track five: Creating from the Heart of Everything. Another very lively piece
centered in the creative centers of our energy system: the heart, the relationship center, the emotional center and the throat center. The large drum pulses from the relationship center….the guatemalan flat drum, french horn and the flute move from heart to throat to the emotional center….dancing creativity realized through outer action. Light…fun….moving always….

Track six: Life Unfolding. This last piece is the longest track as it creates the support that is always with us as we live From the Heart of Everything. We are loved intensely. We are an essential part of the immense weaving of Everything that IS. We are LOVE manifesting. The wind chimes which open this piece were given to Walter and myself for our 40th wedding anniversary. The water was recorded by me in Copan. The sound that carries the melody is choir…but I call it the sound of the primordial sea. Bells continue throughout the piece with a light, loving grace. All is flowing….all is support in love.

Today…..two hours of recording time available to me…..what will it bring? The Mystical Rose: From the Heart of Everything CD now has five tracks and about 38 minutes. The first music is soft, introduced by wind chimes…finger chimes…the unfolding of the Rose…the unfolding of our own selves and our turning into the light. The second music is called Happiness…jingle bells…every time I hear these bells I just have to say again how much I love these jingle bells. Piano, strings, happy flute…happiness! The third music is Laughter. Drum, some kind of magical electronic beat, claves, shakers, piano. Fourth…..Peace. The water from the fountain in Copan is underneath this music and over the water is the peace of a very slow moving sound and a totally loving cello melody. Fifth….as yet unknown. To be recorded today. Sixth…From the Heart of Everything. The birds from Copan….the harp in a festive mood….strings…and at the end…the drumbeat of our lives lived in the Heart of Everything.

It’s four AM and I am sitting in the early morning listening to the Mystical Rose: from The Heart of Everything music. The last track is The Heart of Everything and I am hearing the song of the birds that I recorded in Copan, Honduras, the warmth of strings, harp and the beat of the drum.
A small statue of Maria holding the child with the globe of possibilities is in front of me. Nicolas Chavez Sojuel (an international artist and Mayan shaman) carved this beautiful artwork in wood….it radiates the strength of my own possibilities and who I am now being cradled in the arms of the Heart of Everything. What a way to start the day!

I recorded and brought back from my trip to Guatemala and Honduras lots of birdsong, the call of the Macaw, water from a fountain in Copan, and the sound of children playing. The birdsong and the fountain are in the Mystical Rose album.

Today will bring shipping of orders, final design of the Mystical Rose album cover, and other wondrous business events.

You know…..just when I “think” I have everything figured out, life intervenes to let me know that there is much, much more to grow into.

There has been no great crisis to shake me up, yet my professional world is changing. As it turns out, I wasn’t aware, but I was still holding on to old ways of visioning my business (imagine that!).
When I was in Guatemala and Honduras in late September, I became aware that the name of Mayan Dream Productions, Int’l was no longer able to hold all of the music that I am writing. What is this all about??!! Since I didn’t have a clue what that might mean, I pretty much ignored that information for a few months. However, occasionally I would ask myself: “What does that mean?”
Changing one’s business name is a big deal. It requires submitting forms, letting people know……redoing business cards, etc. Energetically, it means changing who I am!

One of the inspiring experiences of my September trip was interacting with Mayan people who are living their indigenous Soul in the present day. It is easy to look at the ancient Maya and admire what they accomplished. Even knowing that their creativity/spirituality was the essence of everyday life, it still was not “in my face” immediate to my own life. The Mayan people who graciously welcomed me and others into their inner world…..they are living an everyday spiritual/creative life. Their creativity/spirituality is NOT separate from their regular world. It IS their regular world.

The Mayan people have their own particular rituals to access the unseen world.
We in the Western world have a different set of rituals depending on our own particular beliefs. That’s not the point. The people that I was privileged to meet…who let me into their life….they did not keep a wall of separation between their spiritual/ creative self and their daily self. Several of them have become internationally recognized artists.

So……is my own life lived with no walls of separation between my spiritual/creative SELF and my daily living? Yikes!!!! I might have a ways to go on this!

Also…….my music has grown…and grown…..and is now reflecting the beauty of all of Mother Earth. I have composed Mayan Dream, The Beloved, The Journey of Joy, Atitlan Fire, Heart of Earth/Heart of Sky, and the upcoming Emergence CD which celebrates the incredible energy and beauty of the Mayan lands, but I also have created Soul/Deepbody music for many, many people, the Mystical Rose CD, and I continue to release the Earth Essence music. So…………

In January I plan to incorporate, and my new business name will be BEVERLYmusic, LLC.. or something very similar. This could change a little bit yet. Life is still full of surprises!!

Other changes are developing in the way that I look at what it means to have a business. More on that in future Musings. Get ready for lots of moving and shaking in this particular musician’s life!

I love November. It is probably my favorite month. November is a celebration of change and of the inner world. The outer world is going into dormant stage. Greens have changed into reds and golds and now are brown. Leaves are off of trees mostly. We have had our first hard frost but we don’t yet have the blanket of snow. Skies are still blue and the sunlight quality has changed and it is less direct….softer. The air is crisp. We have the potential for serious storms with high winds and tornados…..again part of the change of major weather patterns.

Many cultures celebrate the other world in November….the veil between worlds is very thin and so we have The Day of the Dead, and All Saints Day, and All Souls Day….and probably other celebrations that I don’t know about. Personally, I feel that I can see and hear and touch in ways that I can’t at other times of the year. I love November…the month of celebration of transition and transformation and hidden growth and of the incredible unseen world of energies and people who have crossed over and of angels and of other beings and of the web that supports all things.

I’m in my studio listening to the scream of the Golden Eagle on the “Living the Possible” music. Outside the light is soft. Dawn was about 30 minutes ago and the sun is just beginning to light up the autumn leaves.

My inner world feels very quiet this morning. I am full up with a new space that is unknown. The voices of chaos nibble at me (a friend of mine had a phrase “being nibbled to death by a duck” that I just love!) from the borders of my awareness, but they can’t budge the strength of this new quiet space.

My friend Susan who does so much of my graphic design work, and who is quite an artist with animals and the energies of the portals, is going into surgery for breast cancer this morning. My spirit and her spirit are intertwined in many ways from probably many dimensions. Her Soul is supporting her with the same quiet and strength that I am feeling today. I will be with her throughout this time of transformation.

All of us have to leave our physical body at some point. Illness is the most common way that we are assisted to leave. That means that illness is NOT something that we have done wrong, or an indication that we are not fully evolved, or any of the other things that I hear sometimes. Illness may point the way to transformation into a new person who will continue to live for a time on this Earth. Illness may assist transformation into the next spiritual world and out of our physical body. Both ways of illness are transformative.

Healing then is the support of the highest form of transformation of which an individual is capable. This transformation is physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and through all of the fields of the person. Healing may extend through various lifetimes, and through alternate realities (Check out your physics!). The body is capable of so incredible a rejuvenation. If it is not time to die, healing means a total rejuvenation and new life for a person.

My part in all of this is my music and my presence. These are so intertwined that they are not separate. Music has such a power to assist transformation into a person’s highest potential.

This is one of those middle of the night creative spaces. We have the first hard frost this night. It brings that crisp cold to the air that feels so good on the skin.
The moon is full and absolutely gorgeous….showering down on the Earth the moon’s own unique creative light. The veil between worlds is very thin this evening.

I was dreaming about a very gentle, loving person who was moving me through all of my musical process. In this dream, we were meeting every day and working with all of the music I have created. As I woke up, there were two pieces of music that we had not yet worked with…..one of them was The Beloved. It was a lovely dream…..telling me again how supported I really am by those who watch over me and who give me the music for creation. I am so very grateful!

People throughout the world e-mail me with comments on my music. I love this interaction because it reminds me constantly of how the different kinds of music that I write are needed for different aspects of living. Many people want The Beloved….especially the first and second tracks. Others find that the music of Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth is moving them into their own space of transformation. Some are listening to Atitlan Fire and really appreciating the movement of the drums. The Healing Music is especially transformative right now for those who are moving through the profound changes that are part of the illness process. All of this is part of the flow of life and love.

Soon Emergence will be out……telling the story of EMERGENCE….yet another aspect of our living story on the planet Earth. Beauty on planet Earth is in constant change…ebb and flow…creation….the seamless movement of death and rebirth…..crisp cold that brings an end to one season’s growth and at the same time preparing the way for the next season…..the beauty of Autumn leaves as trees go dormant……soon snow. Since we are an integral part of planet Earth, that is the story of our EMERGENCE.

The Mystical Rose music will be complete in two weeks and is the gentle, loving presence that I talked about from my dream last night. So supportive…..so wanting us to live the largest lives possible. This gentle, loving presence will be manifesting through music that is soft, and through music that is very rhythmic. Lots of various kinds of bells, and wind chimes, and strings and drum and …..some things that I don’t know yet because all of the music of Mystical Rose is not yet written. Whether this music is strong and rhythmic, or soft and melodic, it all carries the gentle love of the Heart of Everything.

The fires in Southern California were so very difficult for so many people. Now thousands and thousands either have to find the larger story as they rebuild, or assist friends and family as they find the larger story to rebuild. Let us keep them in our strong, loving presence to help provide the strength they need.

It’s been a while since I wrote. So much has been happening that writing kind of got lost. Sorry!

To all of you in California….my thoughts and prayers are with you in this profound natural disaster of fire.

I arrived home from my trip to Lake Atitlan and to Copan on October 6. It is now 18 days later and my music is changing again. I walked among the ancient trees in Copan …. I soaked up sunlight, or moonlight, or watched the milky way, or walked in rain, or recorded bird song, or children’s laughter…..all of these things came back home with me as music.

Right now I am recording a new album which is tentatively called Mystical Rose. The Mystical Rose music is teaching me that the Source/Heart of all Things/God/Sophia is a loving, gentle, supporting, all encompassing weaving of unconditional love. No matter the outer events, this weaving is always present.
Mystical Rose is the music which unfolds the Heart of All Things. It is my music for the Holiday Season of Love and Light of 2007.

Also, Soul/Deepbody music is being recorded this week and next.

Susan is preparing for me a beautiful winter scene for the marketing of all of my music before the holidays. It is my belief that the mail you receive from me should be ensouled, and contribute to the beauty in your life.

Over the last week I wrote a story of my 30 year cycle from 1976 to 2006, and also my 20 year cycle of being a composer of original music from 1987-2007.
This was a way of really claiming all of my life journey from the space of the Mystical Rose music: The Heart of Everything. I have been musician, friend, administrator, teacher of private students, mother, wife, composer, lover of nature, woman who loves to be funny, and crazy, and to play. All of these aspects of me are woven together as my life and they are supported in love. The times that felt hard, and the times that felt wonderful were all supported by the weaving of The Heart of Everything.

Since 1987 I have composed Mayan Dream (1989), The Beloved I (1990), The Beloved II (1991), Watchers (1991), Stille Pointe (1991), Joy (1991), Dancers of the Flame (1996), Walking the Labyrinth (1996), Mayan Portal (1996), Chilam (1996), released most of this on The Beloved as CD (2000) , Edgewalker (2003) The Journey of Joy CD (2003), helped organize an album for Tulio in 2004, Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth (2006), the first two Soul/Deepbody albums (2006), 18 more Soul/Deepbody albums (2007), Healing Music album (2007), Emergence album ( 2007) Lake Atitlan music (2007), Earth Essence Music (2007.

All of this music has come because I have a purpose as a composer. As I have said so many times: “You can’t demand or order the music. It comes in its own timing and in its own way.”

Love to all of you. Again, my prayers are with those of you who have lost homes, family, friends, or the beauty of the nature around you.

It’s absolutely pouring down rain outside. My first reaction was “oh no!” I needed to go shopping today. However, the rain is so beautiful and it’s sound is on many of my recordings now. There is something supportive and loving about the sound of rain. Nature’s wisdom!!

I just finished writing the description for my new piece of music called DUSK which will be on this website for free download (Earth Essence Music) this evening. Here is what I wrote: “Remember yourself in a place of comfort and beauty. It is that magical time when the sun has set and darkness is not complete. You are cradled in a lovely soft light and hear the gentle night sounds of frogs peeping, crickets, cicadas. In the profound wisdom of dusk, your heart opens wide to receive love, wisdom, to begin the rest cycle.”

Well….it is a soft light outside my window right now. Even though it is 9:45AM, it feels like dusk.

It has been ten days since I returned from Guatemala/Honduras. This time has been spent very quietly in gentle reorganization of ME, and of my business. I have needed to sleep A LOT. Very little outward movement….lots of inward movement.

On another topic: I have received a lot of feedback over the last several weeks that people are still appreciating and using The Beloved CD (released in 1990). The Beloved remains my Soul music and the figure ground music for all of my creative work. Remember the story of this music….the melody came while I was driving in Indiana farmland….track one was recorded and released as a solo cassette. Then other pieces began to come forward as I traveled into Mexico and Central America….the expanded Beloved melody…Watchers…Stille Pointe…Chilam…Walking the Labyrinth…Mayan Portal. Each of these pieces has an aspect of the Soul/Deepbody journey of all of us. The music is profoundly healing and transformative. Thank you to the SOURCE of all music for giving this music to me…and through me….to you.

On Friday, Walt and I went to Bloomington to see and hear Jason defend his thesis for his PhD in Physics. I remember vividly when Jason was a child he had to know how everything worked. Things got taken apart on a regular basis! A special time that Jason and I had for a while was Thursday night pizza….just him and I. Jason would talk about how he wanted to know about space and time and what that was all about. This was when he was eight or nine.

Jason’s journey to get his PhD was challenging. He had years when he didn’t know if things were going to work out….money was tight….but he continued. Of course, Leah was there for him always. She is also going to have her PhD in Physics soon, and they shared over these last years the journey….good times and really hard times.

When Jason’s advisor officially told him that he had passed the defense and was approved for his PhD, his joy was incredible to see. His whole being shined with light. Now Leah will give a major talk in Germany tomorrow on Physics and Jason is with her.

It’s amazing and inspiring to me that Jason gave his thesis defense (one hour talk with power point and then one hour of intense questioning by physics professors) after completing the Chicago marathon last week, and starting a new job in Chicago just a few weeks ago. And…of course….Leah also completed the marathon and was doing the demanding work of writing the talk for Germany, getting it approved, and giving practice talks…all while helping Jason with his final preparations.

WOW!

Kudos, kudos to Jason and Leah for walking the journey with class. You are an inspiration to the rest of us.

Remember that commercial for Nasonex that has the little bee saying “I have returned….a changed bee!”. (You have to imagine the accent)

I loved that phrase and it SO describes my return from my 12 days in Guatemala and Honduras. It really takes two days to travel to Lake Atitlan from Fort Wayne. This time of travel brings me from the old reality through transition and into the beginning of change. By the time I arrive at Lake Atitlan, I am already in a different space. This is a powerful and beautiful part of the world. I crossed the lake on three separate days to be a part of the cofredia rituals. These rituals survive from the days of the classical Maya. They have blended with the Catholic church saints, and especially Mary, and much incense and drumming and chanting to bring two traditions that are very ancient into a new living ritual that is sacred to these people. Outsiders are usually not invited to be present, and I am extremely honored that I could be a part of the weaving of their ritual on three consecutive days. People often ask me why the Mayan civilization disappeared. My answer: “It hasn’t disappeared. The Mayan people are very much alive. The form has just changed.”

I love the Mayan people of Guatemala and Honduras. They are deeply spiritual, beautiful people.

Into Honduras…..another LONG trip by bus….and another time of transition into the space of Copan and the mountains of Honduras. My time in Copan was spent almost entirely in meditation and walking. I have lots of recordings of the birds and other nature sounds directly from Copan. Expect to hear these on albums and on Soul music albums.

Then two days of travel back to Fort Wayne, and transition into the sacred space and time that is Fort Wayne, Indiana and my family, friends and my studio. The journey continues into living the experiences and the awarenesses from Guatemala and Honduras.

TO ALL OF YOU: Don’t forget to download the EARTH ESSENCE MUSIC. The latest piece was put up on October 2nd and it celebrates the Hawk. So now we have Birds of the Morning, the Wolf, and the Hawk. Coming on October 16th will be “Dusk”. This is gorgeous, gentle music which honors that special time when the sun has set, but night is not totally settled in.

I came back with information about changes for Mayan Dream Productions. Change is good! It will happen quickly.

Everyone who read the last blog heard my story about why I am suddenly leaving for Guatemala and Honduras.

Now I have a few more stories about the power of listening. I had been feeling very strongly that we needed to replace our furnace. This was not a “oh well” decision. Furnaces are expensive! However, something was just yelling at me to get a new furnace.

So….we did indeed purchase a furnace from one of the best and most knowledgeable places in this area. They removed the old furnace and found…….black mold growing in our walls. The original furnace had been installed without the proper insulation and the conditions of damp and dark and warm were perfect for the nasty black form of mold. This is indeed serious business….and explains the really bad headaches in the morning for me. Our furnace people have taken a lot of continuing education in how to get rid of mold (what are the chances!). We had to have the ducts cleaned, and a fungicide and a bacteria killer pumped through the system twice. We had to have dry wall removed in a special way that would not spread mold spores. We have had a special mold killing unit running in our house for two days. So, a job that was supposed to take two days, is now taking seven days, but we will no longer have that nasty, really dangerous black tendrily fungus growing in our house.

Without replacing the furnace….we never would have known until the fungus had invaded much of our house. Yikes!

Thus the power of listening! I feel that something much larger than us is taking care of us. I just have to listen and act.

Then….I needed to record an album for this upcoming trip to Guatemala/Honduras. Listening again. Keep in mind, I just found out that I was going on the trip on Wednesday. So, time was kind of an interesting deal here. I called Tom at Tempel Recording, and he had a little time for me, but not much. We recorded for three hours on Thursday evening, and then he said: “You can have all the time you need tomorrow because everyone else has canceled.” We spent a total of eight hours recording the music that I am taking to Guatemala/Honduras.

Why did the cancellations happen? I don’t really know but it was wonderful timing for me.

The new music is called “Living The Possible” and it is WAY different that what I have done. Almost no regular instruments….just energy sound and a huge amount of vitality. It is introducing a new style to my composing. I KNOW that the third album in the Earth trilogy will be composed when I get back.
And…..who knows what other music…????!!!

We bought a new suitcase for me today…..new shoes for walking….some gifts for the children in Copan. Now I can pack.
