Musings
on a Monkey
There
is a beautiful plaza in the Mayan ruins in Copan.
In this plaza the ancient shaman kings of Copan created a
series of stelli which told the story of the Mayan people and
creation. The purpose of the stella was also to create the journey of
a person’s life.
As the ancient visitor moved from stella to stella, they
journeyed from the beginning of a project/issue/creation, through the
shadow, and into the light and completion.
I
was sitting in the midst of all of this, listening to my music “The
Beloved” when a monkey jumped from a tree onto my back and wrapped
its arms around my neck WOW!
The
monkey was very interested in this human who was sitting in his
territory.
As I gently untangled myself from his embrace, he chattered
with me for a while.
We held hands and then he left. As you can imagine, this
encounter lifted me out of one space an dinto another, more alive
consciousness.
The
monkey who came to me was curious, intelligent, and open to
communicating with me.
In the Mayan mythology he is also the artist.
The
place that he chose to connect with me was the place of the journey.
Now at this time in my life, as I journey through the shadow
into the light, I remember the joy of my encounter with the monkey of
Copan, and call upon curiosity, joy, willingness to communicate in
unknown ways, and the intelligence of my soul and the sacred feminine.
