Ilene Satala is the artist who created the artwork for The Beloved, The Journey of Joy, and Mayan Dream/Dancers of the Flame. She says this about her creative process:

"For many years I have had a passionate interest in mythology, archeology, psychology, and anthropology. Since I was a child of nine, I have thrown myself into the studies of Egyptian and Greek cultures. I have traveled to Central America, studying both the ancient and modern Maya. I have stood in the remote sights of the Olmec and have studied the Mother Goddess culture of Teotihuacan near Mexico City. It has been my privilege to walk in ancient ruins over two thousand years old and to climb to the top of numerous heavenly pyramids.

What has called to me throughout all my experiences is the voice of the Sacred Feminine. It is this theme that ignites the artist in me. It is my intent to bring my work up from the collective dream or vision of humanity that is more than twenty thousand years old; to make it new, alive, vibrant and relevant to our time. "
